Management of Venom Ophthalmia

Venom ophthalmia is also known as ocular envenomation and typically results from encounters with spitting cobras in Africa or Asia. Occasionally this can occur when a non-spitting snake such as a viper manages to fling venom forward as an accidental byproduct of a particularly vigorous strike. Regardless, it is handled the same way and is essentially the same protocol that would be employed in the event of an ocular exposure to a caustic chemical.
